Brontosaurus applique pattern

I know, I know, Brontosauri are not real anymore, they were all a hoax that got busted some years back. However, I grew up with them, and refuse to give them up. They’re all slightly mythical creatures to me anyway, so the fact that Brontosauri do not exist does not stop me from making them! That said, here is the pattern 😀

Caron, Simply Soft yarn, Hook size G

Rd 1: Ch 4, join to first ch to form a ring. ch 2 (counts as 1st dc), 15 dc in ring.

Rd 2, Head: Ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each of the next 2 ch. Ch 1, sl st in ch (ear made). Dc in next st; hdc in next 4 ch; dc in next 4 chs. Sk 2 dc on center circle, and join with a sl st to next dc. Sl st in next 6 sts.

Tail: Ch 12. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each of the next 2 ch. Hdc in next 3 ch, dc in next 3 ch, htc in remaining 2 ch. Sk 2 dc on center circle and join with a sl st to next dc.

Legs: *ch 5, dc in 3rd ch from hook and next 2 ch, sk 1 dc on center circle and join with a sl st to next dc.* Sl st into next dc on center circle. Rep from * for 2nd leg.

Fasten off, and make sure to leave a tail if you’re attaching it to a square! 🙂

The brontosaurus is great because it whips up super quick. Even not remembering how I did it, it still took less than 15 minutes for me to make.

a tiny brontosaurus, measuring just 6.5″ from tip to tail
